N600HX is a Sikorsky S-64 Skycrane in OHX firefighting livery — a heavy-lift water-bomber with a 2,650-gallon belly tank, used on LA-basin wildland firefighting contracts during fire season. The S-64 silhouette is unmistakable: an exposed-frame airframe with a long tail boom, dual turboshaft engines mounted high on the body, and the ability to refill from open water in seconds via its snorkel. Sister type to the CH-54 Tarhe military helicopter.
