AS THE STORY UNFOLDED

The timeline

All times Pacific

2:24 AMOct 28
Possible pursuit: we tracked an LAPD helicopter (N228LA) and an LASD helicopter (N961LA) flying 26 km in 36 minutes, the way police aviation flies a pursuit, and they are over Watts now. No agency has stated what it was. We are reading the flight pattern, not a dispatch.
2:37 AMOct 28
We last tracked them over Watts at 2:33am.

What we know

Helicopters seen overhead. GTLA AirWatch opened this page automatically from a verified moving aircraft track. The scene moves; the pin is where we last placed it. Nobody has told us what it is: no dispatch record, no station report, and no GTLA editor has reviewed it. We are reporting aircraft movement, not a cause and not a casualty.

GTLA AirWatch

Aircraft positions are tracked by GTLA.

Newsroom statements are attributed in the timeline.

Aircraft movement alone does not establish why a helicopter is there. “Coverage ended” describes GTLA tracking, not the outcome of the incident.
