Sky Knight is the longest continuously-operating police air-support program in the country, founded in 1966 by the City of Lakewood. The city contracts its policing through LASD but runs Sky Knight as a city-funded standalone aviation shop with its own callsign and crews. Sky Knight crews fly nightly patrols supporting deputy operations across the cities of Lakewood, Hawaiian Gardens, Paramount, and Bellflower.
